Attention, Lord of the Rings nerds, geeks and elf wannabes – put down your Horns of Gondor and head to the BFI Imax for a special triple screening of Peter Jackson’s entire trilogy at the Lord of the Rings all nighter. Watch all the Oscar-winning films back to back at an all night event dedicated to the classic trilogy.
After Dark at ImaxAlthough Imax is known for showing 3D films as well as kid-friendly features, the new After Dark programme is designed to bring something a little more adult to their big screen. From the latest Oscar contenders to moving dramas and light-hearted comedies, you’ll be able to catch plenty of flicks in a decidedly un-cinema-like experience. LOTR on the big screenAll the films in the Lord of the Rings all nighter are still in their original format with a picture set up like a traditional film screen. The Imax is designed as a sound studio, so the sound quality is guaranteed to be second to none. The venue also has 485 seats, enough to occupy plenty of film fanatics.
Lord of the Rings All NighterHead to the Imax to see all of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, one film right after another. Although film fans undoubtedly know what happens to Frodo and the rest of the fellowship on their quest to destroy the ring, experience the magic all over again like it’s one (very) long film.
Stay up lateThe Lord of the Rings films will start screening at 11:30pm and all films will be shown back to back with a 30 minute break between each. As each film runs around 3 hours, you’ll be in for a total all night experience. Get your caffeine fix with the free teas and coffees provided, and there’ll also be snacks, sweets, soft drinks and alcohol available for purchase.
