Celebrated my 22nd birthday here. It wasn't too great, it's too small and the biggest disappointment was that I had booked a booth for 20 people, which I had paid a deposit for. When I arrived they sat me and my party at a very small booth which could barely seat 5 people! After speaking to the manager I was moved upstairs, which seated all of us (although we had to split up slightly) but the dance floor was downstairs and so was the music! Not really what I had in mind for a birthday celebration. My advice for any booth bookings-ensure they give you one suitable for the size of your party!
Went there on 08-11-08 for a friends Birthday Party .We were charged an entrance fee at 21-30 .Felt like we'd been ripped off as,the adverts say there will be a charge after 22-00 .Oh well that's clubs for you.Nice to see that somethings never change .
Crowd upstairs are abit posuerish.Downstairs abit more chilled out and up for a Dance .I found the Drinks to be expensive even for the lights of the West End.Music was good.Abit of House ,Old School and even Jazz Funk .The Bongo Man was a nice touch .Good mix of people Black ,Asian, White and Polish. The Cloakroom Girl was on another Planet .Not sure you would leave your Coat there if you were in a hurry.Overal it's an O.K place to go,
Me and my favorite girlies decided to trot on down to Babble for a late night boogie and booze after spending a depressing raining day in our local pub. On arrival to Babble we were greeted by an ever so friendly door man who kindly let us on for free. Wow, Bonus!!(Even though it was only £8, Bargin!).I was over whelmed by the amount of people in the venue as it was quite late in the evening. The atmosphere was pumping and the customers seemed happy. With Babble being in Mayfair we expected to find lots of business men suited and booted but the clientele was funky, smart, casual and again very mixed! After getting ourselves some sexy champagne cocktails at the bar, (which I must comment on the great service- we didn’t wait too long and the prices are brill!) we waltzed on down into Babbles basement bar area to have a little boogie. I was chuffed to bits when I seen that there was a bongo man-yey! We all love a bit of live percussion from time to time! The music was funky and soulful with boogie and disco being the main vibe. RnB was dropped in from time to time - it was great to see that there was music for all tastes! We had a lovely evening all in all – and to top it off there was even a chauffer service outside. The heels were off and the manager kindly made sure we got home safely. I would recommend this venue to all of my friends and will most defiantly be returning!
Nice little place if you're into RnB. Largely Asian crowd. Drinks very expensive, but in keeping with the location of the bar. Downstairs turns into a dancefloor at about 11. Very packed on a Saturday - good atmosphere.
I had my birthday party recently at Babble and all of my guests had a great time. The DJ is playing a good mix of music and is open to suggestion. I highly recommend it especially Friday and Thursday night. Their pricing is good for the area and the atmosphere is vibrant and friendly.
Jawalker81 where have you been? I mean, I don't think you were at Babble at all! When I went last weekend I had an amazing time. The bar staff were really friendly and not to mention very sexy!
The drinks were well priced. I ordered two double vodka and Red Bull and only paid £8! Wow!
The music later on, during the night, was a mix of funky house and chill out. All in all, I had a wonderful night and the booth set up downstairs is very intimate and cosy. I advise anyone going out in Central London to check Babble out! 5 stars!
I came here in a foursome on my recommendation (I came here about four years ago) and my goodness how things have changed. This used to be a lovely civilised little bar with polite bar staff and a classy clientele.
We arrived to teenagers throwing up on the doorstep and were charged to get in. We decided to go downstairs as the upstairs was so crowded but our attempts were thwarted when we were shouted at by the bouncer to get off the stairs.
We went back up to get a drink. We managed to get a seat in a corner out the way of the heaving groups of teens. Each time one of us went to the bar we came back quoting a different amount for the drinks and on the third round (of which I ordered two vodka, lime and lemonades) there was no vodka in it. I went back to the bar and at first the bar man argued with me, then eventually made me another two.
The complaints I have about this bar could go on and on, but I don't have enough room, so just be warned. This is the worst bar I have ever had the misfortune of visiting. Avoid at all costs.
I generally had a good time at Babble - the music was good, the drinks were reasonably priced and the service was quite quick. However, the staff were quite moody. The venue is quite small and overcrowded. There is literally no space to move let alone dance.
Also, it does get extremely hot in there - you'll find that everyones clothes are wet from the sweat. They did have a couple of fans near the bar but that's about it - Babble really do need to get air con asap or not let that many people in.
