The Brunswick has been transformed from a blaring sports bar into a pub that supports the city's ever thriving arts scene, and is home to what is reputedly Hove's oldest olive tree.

The Venue
This former sports bar has been transformed into a pub that supports both live music and performing arts and the makeover has seen the striking building, with its roof turrets and bay windows, restored to its 1930s' architectural glory. Inside, The Brunswick is lined with warm art deco wood panelling and there's period lighting and fireplaces. The beer garden is home to what is reputed to be Hove’s oldest olive tree within a lovely walled, terraced space.

The People
Creative types abound, sipping on a G and T in summer or a locally brewed ale in winter whilst talking animatedly about funding for the arts or the latest band or play they've seen.

The Food and Drink
On tap are a full range of beers, including local ales and Belgian lagers. There's also a solid selection of red and white wines. Food is served from midday and, as well as main meals at lunch and in the evening, there's also a snack menu. Sunday roasts start at £7 and are increasingly popular with locals who catch up over the papers.

The Last Word
The refurb has changed this place for the better and in a city as creative as Brighton this is one pub that's definitely worth checking out.
