This gay friendly bar boasts great sea views and a large outdoor seating area.

The Venue
With a prime spot on Marine Parade just back from the seafront the bar of the Amsterdam Hotel is set within a building whose sign screams Bar-Sauna-Hotel. The gay friendly venue has a patio area outside which is ideal for relaxing by day or night. Inside it's light, airy and modern with its pale floorboards and lots of small tables in the main bar area. There's also a big screen showing music videos from noon till night and free wireless internet access so you can keep up to date with Gaydar. It closes in the early hours most nights, and it's open even later on Fridays and Saturdays.

The People
The Amsterdam Bar tends to attract an older but no less buff gay crowd although when it comes to fashion it's deep mahogany tans, tight white T-shirts and faded blue jeans all the way.

The Food and Drink
On draught there's Budweiser, Amstel, Heineken, Guinness, Strongbow, Becks and Boddingtons. Bottles of wine aren't fantastic but are priced accordingly at a wallet friendly £9-£12. As for food, it's served throughout the day until early evening and is pretty cheap with jacket potatoes, English breakfasts, omelettes and baguettes for £3-£5 and seafood platters and fish dishes for around £8.

The Last Word
An okay seafront bar with a large patio which serves cheap grub to a generally middle aged gay crowd.
