The ViewBrighton Review

Visually appealing, Aqua is one of the marina's more interesting watering holes. The art of a successful bar in this case spans its Italian murals and calming views of the marina's expanse of water.

The Venue
Cavernous chain pubs seem to be Brighton Marina's forte. Thankfully, there are a couple of more interesting bars one of which is Aqua. The bar was originally built by former boxer George Walker in the mid-Eighties and is now in the capable hands of a Brighton born duo. There's plenty of seating outside which makes the most of its location and the views out to the water. Indoors it has a comfortable feel with its warm wooden floorboards, dark round armchairs and impressive Italian frescoes on the ceiling. Upstairs from the bar is a 150 capacity Indian restaurant so you can round off your night of drinking with a quality cuzza in just a few steps.

The People
The bright and breezy open plan space appeals to families during the day. There are DJs every Friday and Saturday night to whip local residents into weekend partying mode.

The Drink
On draught Aqua has Fosters, Stella, Dortmunder, San Miguel and Strongbow, plus a good range of bottled beers and ciders.

The Last Word
A refreshing change from the many chain bars that seem in no hurry to loosen their grip on Brighton Marina, Aqua brings a breezy Mediterranean-styled individuality to the local bar scene.
