The ViewBrighton Review
This longstanding gay pub is set just back from the seafront and is handy for drinks before moving on to the nearby clubs. The VenueOkay, this is possibly the worst named pub in Brighton, but at least it has no pretensions (and to be fair a Dr Brighton did actually exist). Dr Brightons benefits from its two entrances, one on the seafront and one on The Lanes side and it is simply decorated with a scuffed dark wooden floor, two pool tables and a piano.
It's a gay bar but because of its location attracts a mixed crowd and is particularly popular with clubbing types. There are DJs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and Bank Holidays are always memorable events here.
The PeopleProudly flying the rainbow flag, Dr Brightons proves that a bar doesn't have to have fancy decor to attract an up for it crowd. Party lovers trail in and out of the door all night long, catching up with friends before moving on to a club. DJs keep everyone dancing at weekends whilst during the week small groups chat and flirt over a game of pool.
The DrinkDrinks on draught include Stowford Press, Guinness, Staropramen, Grolsch, Kronenbourg and San Miguel, as well as guest ales and ciders. The bar is well stocked with over 300 bottles of spirits- try and work your way through that lot. Cocktails cost from £5.00-£7.00 and there is a range of different takes on a Bloody Mary so you can mix and match your hair of the dog according to the strength of your hangover.
The Last WordDr Brightons is popular with the gay, mixed and clubbing crowd and gets packed out on a Friday and Saturday night so be prepared to lose all concept of personal space.
