The ViewBrighton Review
Did I ever tell you about the time I was at a rave on a beach in Thailand and the next thing I knew...So goes the conversation at the Full Moon where the regular punters will always be travellers in their hearts.
The Venue
The Full Moon is a curious animal. There's no outside smoking area and it's almost next door to the popular Fiddlers Elbow and a few yards further away from the meat market that is West Street. Also there's no food, so as a result the pub often isn't open till mid-afternoon. But there's good news on the way: the pub is now considering providing food and bringing the opening times forward. And, although it may suffer from a lack of an outside area in the summer, there is an open fire in winter.
It really is an attractive little place, fairly traditional but smart with its floorboards and patterned carpet and black banquettes contrasting with the exposed brickwork. It definitely has something about it.
The People
Grown up hippies who look like they know a lot about herbs beat a regular path to the pub but it's not only smock topped, sandal wearers that love the Full Moon, you'll also rub shoulders with students.
The Food and Drink
The Full Moon serves Staropramen, Boddingtons, Stella, Fransiskaner wheat beer and Guinness from its hand pumps. The happy hour is a great way to while away a lazy couple of hours in the afternoon and runs from 4pm till 6pm.
The Last Word
The Full Moon pub's star is still shining brightly in spite of its lack of outdoor seating but if your idea of travelling is five star hotels and first class travel then you won't find many likeminded souls here.
