The ViewBrighton Review
Javu brings a fluttering of French fancy to the city's late night bar scene. The VenueA fairly recent addition to Brighton's late night bar scene, Javu was originally set up as a pre-club DJ bar but is now open from midday. Occupying a prime city centre spot, Javu seems to be inspired by all things French with its red and gold Moulin Rouge-style interior highlighted with touches of baroque courtesan Parisian parlour chic (try saying that when you're drunk).
The VIP area is intimate with individually styled booths providing a bird's eye view of the bar and it can be booked at the weekend for private parties. However, the French influences make way for Spanish ones on Sundays when there is are free salsa dance classes on offer.
The PeopleA stylish blend of chic pre-clubbers and couples enjoying a more intimate night out complement the decor beautifully. And then of course there's those salsa dancers.
The DrinkIt's more of a cocktails and shots than a line-up-the-pints type of place, but you will find Guinness, Kronenbourg Blanc, Fosters and San Miguel on tap, as well as Magners, Budweiser and Stella Artois in bottles. Drinks promotions throughout the week which include two-for-one cocktails keep the students happy.
The Last WordJavu's French chic appeals to the city's cosmopolitan set who like their cocktails flirty and their bars intimate.
