The ViewBrighton Review
A popular sports pub that's unremarkable that always offers a reliably warm welcome. The VenueBuilt in the 19th century, The Market Inn is a down-to-earth, medium-sized city centre traditional pub which has a friendly atmosphere. With its cream and green exterior it's fairly sedate although splashes of colourful flowers from the hanging baskets do tend to brighten it up a bit. The patio area only has four tables but if you manage to get one of them this is a good place to sit and watch the Brighton world go by.
Part of the small, high quality Real London Pubs group, the pub has a B&B attached to it with two rooms that are popular with tourists and locals who've had one jar too many. As you'd exect at a fairly traditional pub they've got plenty of time for sport and if it's on Sky Sports, it's on the big screen.
The PeopleThe Market Inn attracts a mixed crowd of tourists and locals although they tend to be a rather unadventurous lot. Slow and steady is the name of the game here. If you do want to cut loose at least you can safe in the knowledge that you can always crawl upstairs to one of the B&B beds.
The Food and DrinkFosters, Kronenbourg, Carlsberg, San Miguel, 6X and Bombardier are all on tap plus there's Budweiser, Budvar, Corona and Becks in bottles, as well as Bulmers and Strongbow. The food is pub grub standard fare with dishes such as steak and ale pie for £6.50 and fish and chips for £7, nothing special but they do the job.
The Last WordWith its handy central location, the Market Inn is a good stop-off point for a pint when the sport's on.
