The ViewBrighton Review
Thanks to its location, The Open House reigns supreme as the student boozer in the area and that's not likely to change anytime soon. The VenueA large, stylish pub next to London Road station, The Open House has a lounge area, an upstairs function room and what must be one of the largest beer gardens in Brighton. The food is a particular highlight and, while the pub is child-friendly during the day, at night the regular DJs and occasional comedy and live music nights draw in a much younger crowd. Artwork from local artists adorns the downstairs walls, while the function area (known as the Play Room) hosts visual and performance arts and is available for private hire throughout the year.
The PeopleStudents head to The Open House in their droves from afternoon till late at night, putting one hangover to bed by embarking on some serious dedication towards the next.
The DrinkAmong the draught lagers are Hoegaarden, Red Stripe and San Miguel, and there's also Guinness, Harveys and Newcastle Brown on tap. Becks, Budvar and Caulthaler are among the bottle beers and The Open House also stocks speciality spirits such as Goldschlager and Hacienda Hornitos Silver Tequila.
The Last WordA popular student pub that's up there with the best of them for comfort, drinks and service.
