The ViewBrighton Review
A cosy neighbourhood pub, The Park Crescent is loved by locals for its real ales and child friendly atmosphere. The VenueThe Park Crescent is yet another of Brighton's hidden gems. Tucked away in a residential backstreet, the pub was completely refurbished a few years ago and attracts a wide range of punters from the immediate area. It’s cream and green and traditional-looking from the outside whilst indoors there is a circular drinking and seating area around the bar and old photos on the walls. There's a lovely beer garden at the back and children are welcome so the pub is popular with families. It's not open during the day so this is an evening-only destination but it doesn't harm its popularity.
The PeopleRegulars, locals popping in for the first time (chances are it won't be the last) and students, in fact anyone who wants to avoid beered-up city centre drinkers.
The Food and DrinkThere's Hoffbrau (export and premium) on tap, plus real ales such as Fursty Ferret, Badger and Tanglefoot, as well as Old Rosie and Stowford Press ciders. If that's not enough choice there’s also Magners, Budvar, Corona and Newcastle Brown in bottles. The pub offers three red wines and three whites, with a house Sauvignon Blanc costing £3.80 for a large glass and just £7.95 a bottle. Don’t try to pop in for lunch though — the pub doesn't open till 3pm. Food is served between 6.30pm and 9.30pm during the week, from 2pm till 8pm on Saturdays and from 1.30pm to 5pm on Sundays and consists of burgers, chicken kebabs, falafel, nachos, vegetarian tarts and halloumi and chilli salads which range from £5-£7 in price.
The Last WordThe Park Crescent is definitely worth hunting out as a change from city centre drinking. Its laidback air, sense of comfort and simple but tasty food menu make a refreshing change.
