The ViewBrighton Review
One of the better chain bars in Brighton, the Pitcher and Piano boasts a prime location on the main seafront road. The VenuePitcher and Piano bars are all similarly styled and this Brighton branch is no different With its contemporary look, booth seating, exposed steel surfaces, vaulted ceilings and illuminated marble bar, this is one bar that has had a great deal of time and money put into it. The bar has plenty of large, comfy seating areas, areas for private gatherings, premium drinks and a cocktail menu. The building also includes an 85-cover restaurant overlooking the seafront.
The PeopleYou'll mainly find tourists filling out the Pitcher and Piano from noon till night. Whilst the Pitcher and Piano does have superb attention to detail what it lacks is personality as by being all things to every man it only succeeds in falling slightly short of the mark for everyone.
The Food and DrinkDrinks include the usual range on draught from Carlsberg and Kronenbourg to Guinness and Hoegaarden. Perhaps more unusually there's also Paulsaner and Pedigree. The food on offer is reliable but isn't ever going to set the culinary world alight with its selection of sandwiches, salads, pizzas, burgers and Ploughmans for around £5-£8. More substantial mains include minted lamb, battered haddock and pork and apple sausages, for a little more money.
The Last WordThe Pitcher and Piano is a solid, reasonably priced option for drinking with a sea view but it lacks soul.
