The ViewBrighton Review
The lack of sign may seem pretentious but the Pub With No Name has a special place in the hearts of Hanover locals. The VenueIt’s no idle boast — there’s literally no sign outside this Hanover pub to declare what it is. The only suggestion of what lies inside is an inscription of “Eat...Meet...Drink”, which does of course sum it up quite succinctly. The sister pub to Kemptown's Bar With No Name, this place has far more atmosphere even though it follows the same tried and tested formula of good drinks and tasty food. The wooden floorboards, wood wall panelling and red and cream colours create a cosy palette for this pub at the top of the hill. There is a selection of paintings by local artists on the walls, which changes monthly. However, sports fans, don't need to worry - there are two big plasma screens for sport too. A small heated and covered patio at the back of the building is popular throughout the year.
The PeopleSouthover Street is a little off the beaten track and as a result the pub's mainly popular with locals and families (children are welcome until around 8pm).
The Food and DrinkStaropramen, Red Stripe, Stella Artois, Becks, Leffe, Guinness, Hoegaarden, Stowford Press, Harveys and Flowers are all on tap. And in bottles there’s Tiger, Budweiser, Corona, Magners, Westons, Peroni and Brothers pear cider. Food is served in the evenings from 6pm to 9pm and has a Mexican theme including fajitas, enchilladas and chilli dishes. It’s served all day on a Saturday and there’s a Sunday roast menu that's popular too.
The Last WordYet another good quality Hanover local that residents would love to keep to themselves.
