The ViewBrighton Review
They say that charity begins at home but thanks to the Robin Hood it can now begin in the pub. We'll drink to that. The VenueA pioneering pub which donates its profits to charity, the Robin Hood is aptly named. You can't miss this reddish pink painted building with its colourful hanging baskets of flowers as it's perched on a corner of Norfolk Place within a stiletto's skip of Churchill Square. As cosy as your gran's front room, the bar is piled with round and square wooden tables, dark pink velvet-covered banquettes and large, comfortably battered leather armchairs.
The PeopleAnyone who has a social conscience and likes a decent pint pops into the Robin Hood. The pub is famed for its friendly staff and whilst your fellow punters may be wearing the latest Japanese fashions accessorised by a devil-may-care attitude, on the whole they're a down-to-earth bunch too.
The DrinkThe fuss free approach even extends to the drinks and you won't find any towering cocktails loaded with multi-coloured fruit and cocktail umbrellas here. This is a pub that prides itself on pints. Take your pick from Grolsch wheat beer, Becks Vier, San Miguel, Kronenbourg, Strongbow, Leffe Blonde, Staropramen, Guinness, Harveys Best Bitter and guest ales (which tend to be Harveys seasonal ales) and get ready to sup and savour.
The Last WordAs a city, Brighton prides itself on seeing the bigger picture when it comes to quality of life and the ethos of the Robin Hood fits in perfectly. Now, when you're ordering 'Just one more for the road' you can rest safe in the knowledge that whilst your head may not thank you the following day, your social conscience will.
