The ViewBrighton Review
Wine, ale and decent grub, The Bath Arms could be a blueprint for a proper Brighton boozer. The VenueTucked away in The Lanes — the heart of historic Brighton where the city was born — is The Bath Arms. Originally known as The True Briton Eating And Beer House, the establishment changed its name in 1868 and saved generations from mumbling a mouthful of a name as a meeting point.
It's a traditional old pub from the outside whilst the interior is decked out in reclaimed wood and antique furniture, with paintings on the walls and an open fire. The pub combines elements of the traditional and the contemporary to create a cosy, unintimidating atmosphere. However, the pub isn't totally free of intrigue - its cellar is a bricked-up old tunnel which connects with the maze of underground passages running beneath The Lanes.
The PeopleFoodie and ale fans mmmm and aaah their way through the day and continue to savour the pub's hospitality until well into the early hours.
The Food and DrinkKronenbourg, Stella Artois, Carling, Harveys, Bombardier, Old Speckled Hen and Old Rosie are just some of the beers and ciders to choose from the wide range on tap. There's also Staropramen, Becks and Brahma in bottles. Food is served all week and dishes (locally sourced and organic wherever posible) range in price from £7-£11 and include rib-eye steak and Barnsley lamb chops with new potatoes and beans.
The Last WordA Brighton classic, the city wouldn't be the same without one of its most well known and established pubs.
