The ViewBrighton Review
A Kemptown institution, the Bulldog Tavern is as popular as ever with gay punters and whilst it may not be the most stylish of venues it always delivers in terms of interesting nights out.The VenueOne of Brighton’s best loved gay bars, The Bulldog Tavern has been in the city for some 27 years. From the outside it's quite ordinary looking with its plain white walls however looks can be deceptive and inside it is much more spacious. Following a refurbishment, The Bulldog has a new oak floor and has also had an active lighting system put in which guarantees the lights are constantly changing. The top bar has also had a makeover and was recently doubled in size to host more entertainment.
The PeopleThe Bulldog makes the best possible use of its 24 hour licence and ensures that events are far from run of the mill including discos and cabaret nights so you'll always find a glittery sprinkling of divas and warblers amongst the more down to earth drinkers.
The Food and DrinkOn draught you'll find Carling, Coors, Grolsch, Bass, Strongbow and Harveys Best. Bottles include an offering of Magners, Corona, Becks, Budweiser, Golsten Pils and Newcastle brown in bottles. There’s also Semillon Blanc on tap and Shiraz in bottles.
The Last WordAn historic gay pub, there’s always something interesting happening at The Bulldog whether intentional or spur of the moment. With 27 years of success under its belt it stands to reason that The Bulldog knows what it's doing when it comes to keeping the colourful clientele of the Brighton bar world amused and entertained. One of the best places to start painting the city every colour of the rainbow.
