Claiming to be the oldest pub in Brighton, The Cricketers has got more than age to recommend it.

The Venue
Allegedly Graham Greene's favourite pub, The Cricketers was opened way back in 1547 and claims to be the oldest pub in Brighton, although there are other contenders. Unique and atmospheric, downstairs there's the main bar and a courtyard area which is covered and where there are lots of tables for outside dining or drinking. Continue upstairs and you'll be well served by another bar with two big rooms leading off it.

The walls are covered with photos of news clippings and maps and official letters relating to the pub on the walls. It's low lit and big, with contemporary dark pink lampshades hovering over the bar, all very cosy and tailor-made for long evening spent quaffing and ruminating.

The People
Wherever you live in Brighton it's likely that The Cricketers is one of your favourite watering holes. Let's face it, The Cricketers is a Brighton institution and attracts drinkers spanning the generations from university students to record company execs to sixty year old men.

The Food and Drink
Beers on draught include Strongbow, John Smiths, Stella, Kronenbourg, Guinness and San Miguel. There's food in the day (until 5pm), including Welsh rarebit, fish and chips and lasagne, coming in at around £5.00-£7.00 a dish.

The Last Word
A Brighton institution, The Cricketers has retained all of its historic charm and, after all these years, it's not about to lose it any time soon.
