The ViewBrighton Review
This aptly named pub is located on the corner of St George's Road and is one of Kemp Town's gems. The VenueWhile most pubs have countered the smoking ban by creating some sort of outside area, others have been caught short due to simple lack of space. The Dragon sits on the corner of St George's Road in Kemp Town and, apart from smoking out on the narrow pavement, there is nowhere else to go. That makes it all the better though, ensuring that smokers don't abandon the non smokers in the group for the entire night, instead nipping out and then rejoining the rest of the group after a quick puff.
The PeopleThe Dragon attracts a friendly group who are as likely to be found laughing and joking with complete strangers as they are with the group of mates that they arrived with. This is helped in no small part by the staff and landlord who bend over backwards to make every night at The Dragon an enjoyable one.
The DrinkBecks, Staropramen, Hoegaarden, Leffe and Carlsberg are some of the beers on draught and there's also a great range of speciality rums (Havana Club, Mount Gay), the wine list is equally as impressive and there are nine different bourbons to work your way through, including Makers Mark, Bulleit and Woodsford Reserve.
The Last WordThe Dragon is one of Kemp Town's gems and although the temptation is to keep this pub to yourself it really is one of Brighton's independent pubs worth shouting about.
