This run of the mill boozer isn't winning any awards for ambience but it's easy on the wallet which guarantees that it's always going to be popular with the student fraternity.

The Venue
Not in the best of nick from the outside, inside The Druids Arms the bar is open plan and semi-wood panelled with white walls and a wooden bar. There's a fruit machine, dartboard and TV screens for sport so it ticks all the boxes when it comes to keeping students happy. Candles on the tables add a touch of warmth and shift the pub from blandly predictable to cosy in the space of a flickering flame.

The People
Pretty friendly, The Druids Arms mainly attracts punters who live just down the road but it is also very popular with the student crowd thanks to its pre-club deals with venues and a generally switched-on music policy.

The Drink
Fosters, Kronenbourg, Guinness, San Miguel and Carling are all on draught and there are real ales which rotate on a regular basis making it easy for ale drinkers to extend their list of favourites in a few jars a month. There's a good range of bottled beers and ciders although it's mostly pint drinkers here.

The Last Word
A pretty regular boozer which needs a fresh lick of pint and a general refurb. However, it's a reliable if unadventurous choice if you find yourself gasping for a few jars when you're near The Level.
