The ViewBrighton Review
Hailing from the same stable as the famous Gingerman restaurants, The Ginger Pig is one of the finest watering holes Brighton has to offer. The VenueNear the seafront at the bottom of Hove Street is the latest venture from Pamela and Ben McKellar, who already run two of Brighton's best restaurants: The Gingerman on Norfolk Square and The Gingerman at Drake's Hotel. With its outside seating, cream and beige exterior, dark wooden floors and funky orange lampshades, it's a smart spot which gets very busy on the weekends.
Due to its adjoining restaurant, The Ginger Pig attracts a more mature (although not exclusively) drinker. With its high quality drinks and service this is one of the places to see — and be seen — in Brighton but you will be paying for it.
The PeopleThe Ginger Pig is the place that Brighton's thirty and forty-somethings enjoy a night out when the kids are safely tucked up in bed and they fancy a bit of quality time. Yes, it's a pub but it's not a rowdy affair and many of the couples enjoy a drink or two before or after a meal in the adjoining restaurant.
The Food and DrinkStaropramen, Kronenbourg Blanc, Becks, Sussex Best and Prospect are all on draught. And there's a good range of cocktails too - they mix a mean Negroni. If you are planning to have a meal, get there early as there's a no-booking policy and, especially on weekends, it gets packed out.
The Last WordWith its fine drinks and mouthwatering food, The Ginger Pig is a real touch of class by the sea.
