The ViewBrighton Review
Don't let the exterior put you off, The Pull and Pump is one of Brighton's hidden gems. The VenueTucked away on Clarence Gardens, thirty seconds away from the main drag of Western Road is this little beauty. The Pull and Pump looks shabby and derelict from the outside, and there’s something of a smugglers inn about it, even down to its decrepit-looking hanging sign. There's a fenced-off seating area out the front. However, looks can be decptive and this is one of the friendliest pubs in the city.
The PeopleChances are if you're drinking at the Pull and Pump then you've earnt your Brighton stripes and have lived in the city for a fair few years. The Pull and Pump is a well-kept secret so be careful who you tell if you want it to keep the same atmosphere.
The Food and DrinkYoungs, Sussex, Leffe, Hoegaarden, Carling and Grolsch are all on draught but the pub is best known for its splendid selection of bourbons. Food-wise it's pretty simple stuff including jacket potatoes, beef lasagne, shepherd's pie and bangers and mash all for around £5-£6, while sandwiches cost around £3-£4.
The Last WordAn ideal place for tired shoppers, curious tourists and hungry local workers to kick back and refuel.
