The ViewBrighton Review
A popular gay bar that's styled like a country pub, there's always some form of entertainment on offer. The VenueThe Star Inn is exactly as a gay bar should be. There are themed nights and entertainment practically every night of the week ensuring that it's always a popular venue with the gay fraternity. Its location also works in its favour as it's just off the main drag of St James's Street. Easily spotted, it's bright green on the outside and following a complete refit the pub's colour scheme is red and green with cream walls and a red carpet that combine to give it a country pub feel. However, one of the most popular spots is the small, decked smoking area out the back.
The PeopleOpen late on Friday and Saturdays, the crowd at the Star Inn often look like they would be better off singing cabaret on stage than sipping Carlsberg. The Star Inn is fun and you're virtually guaranteed to have a smile on your face all night.
The Food and DrinkThe bar serves Abbot Ale, 6X, Harveys, Stella, Fosters, Carlsberg, Kronenbourg, Strongbow and Guinness on tap. However, there's a decent selection of bottles too such as Corona, Budweiser and Becks, as well as Magners and St Heliers cider. The food is fairly traditional fare such as homemade burgers and steak and ale pie, with prices averaging at a wallet friendly £6 and it's served both at lunchtime and in the evening.
The Last WordThe Star Inn is a lively meeting place for the city's gay crowd and offers a varied programme of events and an impressive drinks list.
