The ViewBrighton Review

Review byGareth Thomas13/10/2007
The venue Located by The Lanes, The Victory Inn is a traditional boozer and was rebuilt in 1824 to commemorate the victory at Trafalgar in 1805, hence the name. It benefits from a lot of passing trade and is populated with a mix of tourisits, visitors and shoppers in the daytime. It's pale and dark green-tiled on the outside with al fresco seating, a near necessity in these no-smoking-inside days. There's a saloon bar at the front and another room at the back with tables, chairs and sofas. The upstairs, meanwhile, has been transformed into a 40-cover restaurant-bar, again with sofas and also offering Sunday roast. Don't tell anyone, but there's also a 'secret' courtyard garden. The drink & food On tap The Victory has Foster's,, San Miguel, Directors, Bombadier, Kronenbourg and Kronenbourg Blanc, as well as Beck's, Budvar and VB in bottles. On the wine front there are bottles of Casillero Del Diablo Sauvignon, LB Colombard Chenin Dry and Casillero Del Diablo Merlot. The last word An historic, centrally located pub which has kept up with the times.
