The venue With a capacity of 780 this is one big old pub. Pubs like Yates's, Wetherspoon's and The Walkabout are much maligned. And to be sure if you're not into massive screens showing sport, loud music and burly door staff, this isn't the place for you. The one thing The Walkabout does have, however, is live music provided by covers' bands, which tends to create a happy, lighter vibe than, say, pounding techno. It's £2 entry on weekends if you can get past the door staff. There are two-for-one cocktail deals from Sunday to Thursday and 50p off selected pints. There is also a student card scheme which gives you reduction on drinks. The pub opens at ten in the morning and carried on till 3am on Friday and Saturday night. The drink & food Carling Stella, Foster's, Carlsberg, John Smith's, Strongbow are all on tap. In bottles there's Bulmer's, Beck's, Corona, Stella, Kopparberg and Peroni. Food is served until 8pm and there are still snacks available after that. The last word For a loud party night out this does the job, but it may be too boisterous and garish for those of a milder disposition
