The ViewBrighton Review
Thankfully you don't have to travel to the edge of the earth to find a down to earth boozer in Brighton.
The Venue
The Worlds End is a large pub on London Road close to Preston Circus. It combines traditional pub decor (bare wood and brick, stone flooring, stained glass and bookshelves) with contemporary touches such as modern art and a beaded curtain around the chill-out area.
The big screen shows classic movies as well as footie and there is a pool table as well as other games such as chess and carrom.
The People
Students and young professional sharers are big fans of the weekly quiz, the regular DJ and open mic nights, as well as the monthly Playstation competition. Get those trigger fingers ready.
The Food and Drink
Fosters, Kronenbourg, San Miguel, Guinness, Old Rosie, Westons and Newcastle Brown are all on draught, as well as alternating real ales. Becks, Budvar and Corona only come in bottles.
As for the food it's generally locally sourced and most main meals come in at less than £5 including cod and chips, mixed grill, burgers, curry and vegetarian lasagne. Desserts are also on the stodgy comfort food side with options like chocolate pudding.
The Last Word
With a wide range of entertainment and good quality food and drink and regular events on offer, The Worlds End is always a solid choice.
