The ViewBrighton Review
Hiding its light under a bushel, Bar 14 is a glam, young, trendy, contemporary and hip bar that ticks all the boxes when it comes to a Brighton watering hole that delivers.
The Venue
Where the cool kids go, the independently run Bar14 looks like nothing from the outside, but inside it's modern, cool and sleek. The space is light and airy with its wooden floorboards, exposed brickwork and marble-topped bar. There are high-backed black leather chairs as well as low sofas and tables and there's a nifty little back room decorated with golden wallpaper. It has friendly bar staff and is open till midnight in the week, till one in the morning on Fridays and 2am on Saturdays.
The People
Located at the edge of The Lanes, Bar 14 is a sleek, stylish affair that's just as glossy as the punters it attracts. Everyone's pretty laid back though so if you're after a raucous night out, head elsewhere or you'll be the recipient of many a disapproving look.
The Food and Drink
Bar 14 has Amstel, Heineken, Leffe and Kirin on draught, as well as a good wine and champagne list, with bottles ranging between £9 and £22. There are also snacks like burgers available, all very reasonably priced. A plus point in any coffee lover's book: it serves illy.
The Last Word
Ripe for discovery, at the moment it's only those in the know who frequent this intimate, stylish hang-out but bars this good are impossible to keep secret for long.
