I absolutely love this bar. I do not live in Brighton, but when I do I visit this place. The music was awesome. Perfect for dancing the night away. Drinks a reasonable and the staff on form. LOVE the decor too!! However...we have had one incident with (surprise, surprise) the doormen...

A group of friends and I attended Heist Bar last night and were having a good night until one of the doormen decided to abuse his position with one of our party, forcing him to the ground and rather badly bruising his face. My friend had not been causing trouble in the club. He was drinking along with us before coming outside for a cigarette. When the doormen wouldn't let him back in he was understandably annoyed. I spoke to the manager about the situation and he was very helpful and dealt with the matter in what I thought was a professional way. He apparently spoke to the doormen outside and they then progressed to lie and said that our friend 'spat in his face'. This is something my friend would never even think of doing and there were witnesses there at this alleged moment to agree this did not in fact happen. The bouncers continued to provoke our friend and stated that he was 'band from West Street' and as our conversation continued one doorman decided that he was now 'band from any club in Brighton as his details have been passed on'. I was not aware it was a doorman's decision to ban people from an entire area. As we do not live in Brighton and didn't want to get into any petty squabbles with what in appearance were grown men, we decided to take our business elsewhere. I have emailed the company and hope they deal with the matter as we would like to return.

If you are thinking of going to Heist Bar, I would recommend it. Doormen are a*holes everywhere.

This place is pretty funky!!! Really good for early evening drinks before going out to party!
